Complexity based firms organise in ways which allow teams of specialists to be deployed in ways which allow them to combine their individual skills and expertise to achieve delivery of the organisations products or services.
There is often an underlying specialised functional structure which provides knowledge, and career linkages between the individual specialists who have common expertise. The specialists themselves are deployed in multidisciplinary teams either on a project basis, or with the use of cross-functional integration resources.
The organisation centre maintains ownership of the overall goal and provides co–ordination between the specialists and the customer.
Although governance is frequently collegiate with negotiation between experts to resolve interdependancies between their specilaisms the centre remains ultimately responsible for resolution of conflict between them.
